World Cup betting odds: Brazil, France enter draw as favorites, United States a longshot

Brazil and France are co-favorites to win the 2022 World Cup ahead of Friday’s group draw, according to BetMGM. The two countries are 11-2 to win the tournament in Qatar, just ahead of England (7-1), Spain (15-2) and Germany (9-1).

FIFA will draw the groups at noon ET on Friday in Qatar. So far, 29 countries have qualified for the World Cup, with three spots to be decided in June.

Brazil, which last won the World Cup in 2002, is No. 1 in FIFA’s world rankings and finished atop CONMEBOL’s World Cup qualifying. France enters as the reigning champion and aims to be the first country to win back-to-back World Cups since Brazil in 1958 and 1962.

The United States, which secured qualification on Wednesday, is 80-1 to win. Canada and Mexico, which finished first and second in CONCACAF qualifying, are 150-1 and 80-1, respectively. New Zealand, which will play Costa Rica in a playoff in June, is the biggest longshot at 500-1.
