A wildfire in El Paso County has forced early release of students from an elementary school as a safety precaution, and a pre-evacuation notice has been posted for some nearby residents.

The fire is burning in the area of Falcon Highway and Meridian Road, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Multiple fire crews are on scene battling the fire in the area of the 12000 block of Falcon Highway. The fire is moving south toward East Blaney Road.
Some roads have been closed in the area. A pre-evacuation notice has been posted with Falcon Highway a boundary on the north, Garret Road on the south, Meridian Road on the east and East Blaney Road as the western boundary. Residents should be prepared to quickly evacuate.
Falcon Elementary School of Technology, 12050 Falcon Highway, was let out early as safety precaution, the sheriff’s office said.
